Through the crocodile warrior body, “Precious Body” explores the human body as both precious to a point of becoming objectified and ascribed monetary value, and the notion of a powerful body of knowledge as precious and therefore dangerous, guarded by society’s ruthless priestly elite. The crocodile symbolically holds both notions of the precious body. By reclaiming the crocodile warrior body, the temple dancer becomes a humble practitioner of the precarious balance of the precious body for her community.
